Great Bentley Carnival
This year will be taking part in Great Bentley Carnival for the 2nd year. Last year we weren’t very well supported by children and parents so this year it would be great if more of you could come and walk with us. Younger children can be pushed around in buggies. It really was a good day out along with us promoting Little Dragons. If you can attend please let us know, the date is Saturday 30th June.

Family Week 12th March - Thank you to all our parents who were able to attend our sessions this week, we hope you enjoyed yourselves. We know the children loved having you.

To celebrate Mother’s Day on Thursday 8th March we invited our Mum’s into preschool to listen to their children perform a few songs. We are very proud of our children who all joined in singing our lovely Mother’s Day song. Afterwards each child presented their Mum with a daffodil and their handmade cards and presents.
Here are some of the quotes from Mum’s :-

'Wonderful Mother's Day song and show, a lot of thought went into this, it was touching and beautiful (not a dry eye). Thank you'

'Fantastic to be invited into the preschool to hear the children sing for Mother's Day. So much thought and care taken to involve the Mummys.'

'It was so lovely to see all the children joining in, even the younger ones. Very well done and organised.'

'Loved every minute, all the children were so proud to sing and very well rehearsed.'

'Fantastic performance from the children. Excellent work from the staff.'

'Lovely idea, very thoughtful and very enjoyable. Children enjoyed performing. Well done to all children and staff.'

Due to the adverse weather, ‘World Book Day’ was celebrated a week later on 8th March. Children and staff dressed up as their favourite book characters, they all looked great.

The snow proved very exciting for the children and challenging for the adults (to get to work), we are proud to say we managed to open every day throughout our ‘snowy’ week. The children enjoyed exploring the snow and had great fun ‘sledging’ in the car park. We even took some snow indoors (there was plenty of it) to make snowmen in trays, sadly they didn’t last long in the warm! Lots of interesting observations and learning though.

During the Easter holiday we are once again running some ‘holiday clubs’ – see below for dates. Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
Wednesday 4th April – Holiday Club
Thursday 5th April – Holiday Club
Tuesday 10th April – Holiday Club
Wednesday 11th April – Holiday Club

Week beginning 12th March we are holding a ‘family week’ where we invite Mums, Dads, Grandparents etc. into the setting. This gives them the opportunity to join in with some of our activities and see their child at play.

At the end of January we had great fun ‘skyping’ to Australia: - one of our children was in Australia on holiday and we were able to speak to her and catch up with all her news. We also ‘skyped’ one of our staff members in New Zealand, we had just arrived in the morning and she was about to go to bed! - very exciting.

14th Feb – 21st Feb is National nest box week (Supporting RSPB). The children hung up nesting material to encourage the birds in our garden to use our nest boxes. We also continue to make ‘bird cakes’ and keep our bird table stocked with food. The children enjoyed watching the many visitors to our garden.

23rd January 2018
Today we had an unannounced visit from an Environmental Health Inspector. I'm glad to say after he completed his Inspection of the kitchen we scored the maximum 5.

January 2018
Christmas seems a long time ago now, on the last day of term we visited Leonard Cheshire Disability with the children and their parents and performed some Christmas songs for the residents. We had a lovely time, a warm thank you to them for inviting us and making us feel so welcome. Upon returning to preschool we were very lucky to have a visit from Father Christmas himself! We finished our morning with a party lunch (with lots of lovely food supplied by the parents). A great way to finish the year.
All the children have settled back well after the holiday with a few new children joining us also.

OUR VISIT TO AQUARIUM -19th September 2017

On Monday 3rd July the children were invited to the church to sing some songs for their parents and friends, they had been practising the songs and were in excellent voice on the day. Afterwards we looked at all the beautiful flowers and displays. The children had worked hard on our own display of Elmer the elephant and a rainbow made of all the children's handprints.

GT. BENTLEY CARNIVAL 24th June 2017.... Our float won 1st prize in it's category!

   LIVING WILLOW DEN   February 2017

The grant which we received from 'Solarfields Ltd' for our wonderful canopy also included funds for a living willow structure. We have now been able to start construction on this - it is a work in progress as it will grow and evolve over time. Unfortunately the rabbit guards look a bit unsightly but a necessity while the rods' are young.

We are proud to announce that following our latest Ofsted Inspection that we have been graded OUTSTANDING

The inspection took place on 26th June 2013 - quotes from the report include:
‘Staff are highly skilled in assessing children’s progress and planning for their future learning’
‘Children develop superb levels of independence as a result of the opportunities they are offered at the pre-school’.
